πŸ€” Math?

We're back from a company-wide summer pause (or winter pause for our Southern Hemisphere team members). Edgar Allan is hitting it's numbers! Let's look at some new Community Library scripts: πŸ‘€ Dynamically loads HTML content based on a random number. This is a quick script we wrote to give a dynamic intro into a soon-to-be-released https://edgarallan.com. https://slater.app/community_library/random-content-aee7f7f2-3ab8-4e6f-887e-ea54cad0ebbf From Jared Malan ✍️ Create a variable for your...

We're rolling into a holiday week in the US. If you need an animated American flag to celebrate, look no further. But! We have users from all over the world. For those outside of the US, try updating the code to make an animated flag of your country (hint: use AI). If you make one, please share. We'll get it added to the Community Library. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Render and animate an American flag on a canvas with dynamic waving effects....

We're adding new community library scripts each week. Let's take a look at some of them. πŸ‘Ύ An interactive swarm Create a dynamic grid of squares that react to mouse movement, simulating a swarm-like effect (is it a swarm?). This code is the scaled back version of something we did for a client. We'll show you the finished experience once that projects launches. Play with the example: https://slater-original.webflow.io/swarm Review the code:...

πŸ‘‹ Do you know Jack over at Webflail? Jack helped us a lot in getting Slater off the ground. In those early days, he repeatedly emphasized the need for a community library. Well, today (finally!), we are announcing a community library! Shout out to Jack! :) With the launch, we have included JavaScript snippets from Corey Moen, Digipop, Jeff McAvoy, and yours truly. You can watch a demo of the community library here. Or you can check it out yourself: https://slater.app/community_library. Do you...

πŸ‘‹, We love hearing from you. Two asks: Give us feedback on what Slater features you'd like to see. Send us cool projects that you are working on. In regards to #1, we prioritize updates based on your feedback, so if you want something, let us know. And #2, we love seeing what you're working! We'll continue to showcase your projects in this email and use them to help prioritize features and content. Recent Updates This week, we made several updates based on feedback from Kevin, Pablo, Leon,...

πŸ‘‹, You probably know that the team at Edgar Allan is behind Slater. But did you know that we work on other products in between our client work? You use Slater. You may have heard about Wes. And you probably don't know about our latest product, Figdam. Edgar Allan @EdgarAllanCo Our next product is designed to make you say... DAM!! ...as in Digital Asset Management. Welcome to Figdam - manage sales and marketing assets in @figma and auto-sync ✨them to @webflow https://figdam.com/ Here is the...

You can now use OpenAI's latest and most powerful language model, GPT 4o, with Slater AI. We've been testing GPT 4o this week and Slater AI's capabilities are better and faster than ever! Along with the new model, we implemented several improvements to Slater AI. Slater AI will now give more Slater and Webflow relevant answers since we give Slater AI contextual understanding (h/t tdlabs.ca). We also improved the messages parsing (h/t @jeffamcavoy). Slater Sessions Slater Sessions are back! In...

We were excited to be invited back on an official Webflow livestream this week. This time, Slater played a supporting role on "Learn GSAP for Webflow." Aron and Cassie did an incredible job building a really cool GSAP animation. Aron started the stream by publishing JavaScript in Webflow, so you could see the advantages of cmd+s over the publish flow. Those few seconds it takes to publish your Webflow project feel like eternity when you've just forgotten to add a comma. ;) If you didn't see...

More and more Slater-powered Webflow projects are running in production! So, let's talk about what that means. Slater works a little differently in a production environment. Instead of serving a file from the Slater server, we serve a file from Amazon S3. The S3 file is extremely resilient, and by default, it is cached by the browser. When your site doesn't seem to be updated, even after publishing changes, it's likely a caching issue. Your browser is simply not getting the latest copy of the...
